Standing Committees

DAWN's Executive Committee members chair and staff the standing committees to achieve the organization's mission and goals. DAWN members are invited to join the standing committees to contribute to these initiatives. Visit the Executive Committee page for the list of committee chairs and members. 

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is responsible for recognizing and celebrating the achievements and contributions of women leaders in higher education. This committee manages the nomination and selection process for various awards and honors, including recognition of outstanding leadership, mentorship, and advocacy. The committee aims to highlight the accomplishments of women leaders and inspire others to aspire to similar levels of excellence.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is charged with managing internal and external communications to promote the organization's mission and activities.

This committee oversees the development and implementation of communication strategies to enhance DAWN's visibility, recruit members, increase event participation, and celebrate award winners. The committee utilizes tools including e-mail marketing, website content, social media, and graphic design.

Leadership Summit Committee

The Leadership Summit Committee is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the organization’s annual Leadership Summit. Through thoughtful and strategic design, the committee ensures the summit delivers meaningful learning experiences, practical resources, and actionable strategies that support women across the higher education community.

The committee identifies and cultivates speakers and facilitators who bring expertise and diverse perspectives to the summit experience, while fostering opportunities for networking, collaboration, and participants’ personal and professional growth.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is tasked with recruiting, engaging, and retaining members to support the organization's mission and activities. This committee develops strategies to attract new members, enhance member benefits, and foster a sense of belonging and community among DAWN members. The committee also oversees membership outreach efforts and ensures that the needs and interests of members are addressed.

Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee is dedicated to providing opportunities for the growth and advancement of women leaders in higher education. This committee plans, coordinates, and oversees a variety of professional development programs, workshops, and resources aimed at enhancing the leadership skills, career development, and networking opportunities of DAWN members. Additionally, the committee is responsible for organizing volunteer activities, social events, and other community-building initiatives to foster connections and engagement among members. The Professional Development and Events Committee seeks to empower women leaders to reach their full potential and succeed in their roles within the higher education sector while creating a supportive and inclusive community within DAWN.

Ad Hoc Committees

Bylaws Committee 

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending changes to the organization's bylaws as needed. This committee ensures that the bylaws are in compliance with legal requirements and aligned with the mission and goals of DAWN. The committee also provides guidance and interpretation of the bylaws to ensure consistency and clarity in governance processes. Additionally, the Bylaws Committee may be tasked with proposing amendments or revisions to the bylaws for consideration by the Executive Committee and membership.
