About the Presenter

Dr. Rosalyn Washington is an assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Delaware and coordinates the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program. She believes that the act of teaching and engaging young children can be liberating for both students and teachers. Her research and areas of interest include teacher preparation, teacher self-care practices, educational policy, and mentoring. She has taught courses related to literacy, developmentally appropriate practice, professionalism, research, and engaging diverse families. She holds a PhD in Educational Policy Studies, with a concentration in Educational Research, Measurement, and Statistics. A veteran of the early childhood education field, her many years teaching the early grades, and later as a Coordinator in Instructional Technology at the district level help her build meaningful bridges between educational theory and practice. Having presented, trained, and consulted across the nation on topics related to literacy, digital citizenship, research, data visualization, equity and inclusion, culturally relevant pedagogy, STEM, and teacher self care, and curriculum design, Dr. Washington is always eager to discuss finding balance, books, mentorship, children, photography, travel, pigs, and flatiron buildings, not necessarily in that order.
